Does U-Haul Have Sprinter Vans?

Learn what cargo vans U-Haul lists, why they are not guaranteed Mercedes Sprinters, and how to compare dimensions, payload, seats, and rental costs.

U-Haul offers cargo vans, but its published U.S. cargo-van page identifies GMC, Ford, and Ram vehicles rather than a guaranteed Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Book by the equipment U-Haul actually offers, not by using “Sprinter” as a generic van name.

What U-Haul’s cargo van is for

U-Haul’s cargo-van page describes a moving vehicle for small loads and apartment moves. It also notes that dimensions can vary with the vehicle supplied and advises checking the local make and model.

That is different from renting a passenger shuttle or a camper. The cargo area is not an approved place to carry a group of people.

Compare dimensions with the item

Measure the item, its packaging, the door opening, and the space available after any wheel housings or partitions. An advertised cargo length does not mean every object of that length can pass through the doors or turn into position.

For heavy items, compare the actual supplied van’s load limit with the full shipment. Moving equipment, passengers, and other belongings contribute to the total load.

When a Sprinter-specific rental makes sense

If you need a high standing roof, a particular long cargo floor, a passenger layout, or Mercedes-specific equipment, look for a provider that explicitly confirms that configuration. A standard moving cargo van may still be more economical when it fits the task, but it is a different product.

Compare the total rental cost

Request the base charge, mileage rate, estimated miles, applicable fees, coverage, fuel obligations, and late-return terms. A low advertised daily starting rate is not a complete trip price.

At pickup, verify the fuel type, clearance height, condition, and loading instructions for the assigned vehicle. Do not transfer Sprinter assumptions to a Ford, GMC, or Ram simply because all are cargo vans.

The useful question is therefore not just whether U-Haul has a “Sprinter,” but whether its available van has the space, capacity, seats, and terms needed for your specific move.
